M3D® (Multi-Directional Disc Dynamics)

Freedom and Versatility in Patient Care

M3D (Multi-Directional Disc Dynamics)
is a revolutionary spine positioning and system of treatment, providing increased freedom and versatility in patient care. Unlike conventional horizontal traction and decompression tables, ExtenTrac® Elite does not restrict patient spine positions to the straight patient position (axial). Multi-Directional Disc Dynamics enables distraction-decompression to be applied in pre-selected fixed or dynamically applied combinations of flexion, extension, and lateral flexion according to initial provocative testing.

Lumbar rotation is not part of Extentrac®Elite's protocol regime
Anatomical motion studies of lumbar rotation, describes anatomical limitation by facet joint orientation and convexity shape. With less than 2° rotational movement per individual segmental or 1° for unilateral rotation, it is obvious that the lumbar spinal column is not built for lumbar axial rotation. Rotational movement should be avoided, particularly in acute disc prolapse and with articular joint dysfunction. Treatment positions with proven evidence-based clinical support should be encouraged. Lumbar rotation, as an early therapeutic procedure, particularly following acute disc prolapse, may increase exisitng circumferential annulus tearing and increase shearing forces on painful articular joints and should be avoided.
The Extentrac®Elite provides "True Hands-On" capabilities. Utilizing operational power control buttons located on the practitioner control bar, the doctor palpates the spine and facets during automated or manually administered treatment - observing and verifying motion of articular joints, interspinous spacing. Repositioning the patient never involves losing palpatory contact with patient. User-friendly control buttons offer precise manual control and immediate adjustment in both the angle and force of unloading.
Acute patients in lumbar myospasm may not tolerate supine positioning. Prone position, flexion-distraction with unique 3 dimensional long axis distraction/decompression on a case-by-case basis be more effective than fixed supine or prone treatment. The Extentrac® Elite with M3D®, makes possible the delivery of distraction and/or decompression in more exacting, anatomically correct, pain relieving positions, static or dynamically applied. This revolutionary technology provides necessary individual treatment applications.
